Your practical starting point
Before you request a window quote
- Write down the problem. Note drafts, damage, condensation, difficult operation, or outside noise. Ask a professional what is causing it.
- Ask about repair. Find out whether seals, hardware, or another repair could address the problem before deciding on replacement.
- Count the windows. Record approximate sizes, locations, and the styles you want to keep or change.
- Request an itemized quote. Compare product, installation, removal, disposal, trim, cleanup, and any permit costs.
- Compare like for like. Check materials, glass options, installation method, and the same number of windows on every quote.
- Read the warranty. Ask who covers the product and the installation, what is excluded, and how a claim works.
- Check the payment terms. Review the deposit, payment schedule, total financing cost if applicable, and cancellation terms before signing.
- Keep written records. Save the quote, contract, warranty, and agreed installation schedule.
